    Capital Expenditure and Depreciation

    Hi All,

I have attached an excel sheet that might explain the problem a bit better than I can here. Basically I have capital expenditures coming in different months, For example I buy 2 "A" and "A" is bought in January and then again in July. I need to start depreciating "A" over 36 months, first one starts in January and the next adds on in July. So Jan to June there is only 1 item being depreciated, starting July to December there will be 2 (the original one + the new one just bought)

Then I have "B", "C", "D" all beginning in different months and some having purchases a few times in 1 year.

Is there a formula that can allow me to depreciate these capital expenditures that come in at different times and with different frequencies (we may purchase A twice a year, B once a year, C 3 times a year etc).

I think the excel sheet may explain better.

Thank you all for your help.

    Hi Jose,

Wow that was a lot easier than I expected. Thank you. Additional question, is there anyway to put a time limit on the items? Meaning if I buy (A) in Jan 2017 it will expire in 36 months but if I buy A again in June 2017 it will expire 6 months after the first purchase. Additionally I can use this for B, C, D, E, where E may be depreciated over 60 months instead of 36.
