Data tables not returning correct output

I thought I understood data tables but am having difficulty. My output (in this case, IRR) is on the same sheet as my tables. Since I'm using a 2-variable data table, both of my input fields are located on the same sheet as well. I have created a series of tables on this same page but only the first one works. The others are returning different IRRs (output) than they should.

Hi blaketus17 and welcome to the forum.

You usually get more and faster response if you attach a sample Excel file of what you are working with to your next post. ... not a picture or screen shot (those are pretty much useless).

That way we are better able to test formulas in context. Please be certain to remove all sensitive information.

If you are not familiar with how to attach a file click the 'Go Advanced' button (lower right) of the reply edit window. Scroll down and find and click the blue text 'Manage Attachments'. Follow the instructions in the pop-up window. An icon with your workbook title will appear when you click the 'Reply' button to your post.

Thanks for the advice. File attached. Because this is a fairly complex model, I've stripped the naming after it but have otherwise attached the entire thing. Sensitivity tables are located on the Input tab at the very bottom. Calculated Equity Partner IRR (output) can be found in cell B108 on the Cash Flow tab but I've linked it to the Input tab as well. Other than that, all variable inputs can be found on the Input tab and have been highlighted in yellow for ease. As one can see, the "base case" IRR is only calculating correctly for the first table. All others are off.

Re: Data tables not returning correct output

    blaketus17,

    I am totally confused.
    1. There is a tangled web of circular references in sheets 'Input' and 'cash flow'.
    2. Until these are resolved I wouldn't be confident in any solutions.
    3. Even then I don't follow the logic of the calculation trees.
    4. There are also references to named range 'TABLE'. There are 3 separate definitions referencing 3 different sheets by this same name.
    5. I also see no formula references to the sensitivity tables you mention and cannot come up with suggestions.

Beyond resolution of the circular references I am not able to make further suggestions.

Perhaps someone with sharper eyes can help.

Thanks for taking a look. This isn't my model. It's a potential development partner that sent it over and I'm reviewing it. The circular references are there on purpose and are typical for a real estate dev model. Often, it's done in order to calculate interest on a loan where you are simultaneously borrowing and financing the interest (thus creating more interest that must be financed..thus creating more interest...you get the point). Other than that, I'm pretty much stuck with the model in it's current state. Also, I'm not sure what #4 and #5 mean.
