    VLOOKUP multiple apperances

I have an issue with VLOOKUP. I want to check for clients in two different sheets and the problem is that some of the clients occur more than once in these sheets and I want to gather information (dates and a text string) on all apperances. I have not been able to do so with VLOOKUP, but is it possible or is there another way to do it? I have created a file where the clients that appear in the sheets are gathered and I want to add the information to this file.

    Regards,
    Lisa

Without having a sample data it's difficult to provide a formula you can just paste and go. But what you want is possible, usually by returning each value in a different cell. This should get you started
http://www.globaliconnect.com/excel/...=77&Itemid=473 but you will most likely use INDEX and SMALL in some form. Feel free to google further "excel lookup return multiple results" and you should be provided with an array of articles on how this can be done. If you can provide a sample, the community here will be able to help further.

Let's say you have names in column A and the date required in column B.

Put the name you want to lookup in C2, then put this in D2:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

This is an array formula so enter it with Ctrl-Shift-Enter not just Enter, then drag down to get multiple results. When you start getting #NUM errors, there's no more - you can get rid of these using IFERROR if you want. If you get #NUM on the second result (and you know there's more than one), you probably didn't get the array formula entered correctly. You'll know it's entered correctly when Excel puts curly brackets {} round the formula (don't enter them yourself).

With 'Jessica' in C2, the formula above will give this:

    Hope that helps.

I recently started a new job so am a bit busy and may not reply quickly. Sorry - it's not personal - I will reply eventually.
If your problem is solved, please go to 'Thread Tools' above your first post and 'Mark this Thread as Solved'.
If you use commas as your decimal separator (1,23 instead of 1.23) then please replace commas with semi-colons in your formulae.
You don't need to give me rep if I helped, but a thank-you is nice.
