Hi,
Can a formula add up values according to meeting criteria?
I have examples on the attached spreadsheet to demonstrate requirements. Would maybe IF/AND/OR work here?
Thanks
Andy

"If E9 and F9 have an "A" then value = 4 (both #), If G9,H9,I9 & J9 have an "A" then value = 4 " - Understandable
(All cells in range G8:K8 with * must have an "A" to get 4 otherwise 0, - What does this mean ?
If L8,M8 & Q8 have an "A" then value = 4 - They wont. They are descriptions of columns. Do you mean row 9 ?
(All cells in range L8:R8 with # must have an "A" to get 4 otherwise 0...... - Again what does this mean ?
but when summing up these value E9:F9 = 4 and either range G8:K8 or L8:R8 is the other 4...not both ranges only 1........each range on there own is worth 4 but range G8:R8 is worth either 0 or 4 points combined - This needs explaining more clearly

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.
[solved]....
