Is there away to prevent users freezing panes?

Is there away to prevent users freezing panes?

I have a workbook that is edited by many users.

When I send out a link to the file ...

It is a protected, shared sheet with the top row frozen.

For some reason several users tend to freeze panes down lower in the book instead of using drop down menu's.
Which then create emails back to me from other users saying they can not scroll.

Is there a way I can prevent the other users for using the freeze pan option? It is a PITA.

    Excel 2010

    Thanks in advance

Are you using Protect Worksheet or Protect Workbook?
If you use Protect Workbook and check "Windows" that should lock the freeze panes as they are; and should not allow users to change that.

I've see something like this before and another possibility is that it is a bug. Might be worth checking what version of excel the affected users are on... maybe there is a patern.

What makes you think this is a bug?

I had a similar experience and assumed the same thing. I thought it was strange that they would freeze lower down the sheet but I assumed they had their reasons... Then one time it happened to me when i was testing on a second pc. So it wasn't changed, it just happened sponteniously. Unfortunately i cant recall the details.

@SVTF just out of curiousity... Did you confirm with the users that they were actually changing the panes?

@coolblue did not confirm with them but after locking as per above ... no issues this week.

Ok, thanks for that feed-back. I think it was 2007 worksheets used in excel 2013 in my case.
