Hi there... my first post here, but i have referenced this site before... thank you for past help (and now). Please excuse if this first post does not comply 100% to the post regulations.
i am building out a business plan. in one line, i have assumed annual sales, but now i have been asked to show the sales on a monthly basis.
i dont want simply to take the amount of sales each year and divide by 12... it look unprofessional to have every month the same amount and no growth indication.
As such, please, i need help in coming up with a formula that will distribute each years total amount over 12 months (in 2016 case, only 6 months) but to have the monthly amounts show an increase (it can be linear) month to month.
Additionally, i want to have the January month be greater than the December month before it.
Data and example:
2016 (jul-dec) 2017 2018 2019 2020
Total posts/mobs per year 36 1,170 7,350 39,840 105,000
assumption of excel cells: B1 C1 D1 E1 F1
and assume cell G1 is July 2016; H1 is August 2016, etc etc, through Dec 2020 which is BH1
what i want to achieve is a formula(s) that i put into G1 through L1 for 2016 and then probably a different formula that will go into M1 for the beginning of 2017 and so forth.
in 2016, i could see the cells have the sums as follows (to total up to 36):
G1=2 , H1=3, I1=4, J1=6 , K1=9, L1=12
these are for example... and the formula might give different numbers for the months in 2016. I just give this as an example of how i want the month amounts to increase and have the year amount equal 36.
Then in Jan 2017, i would want the amount to be greater than 12.
i am guessing that i will have to have a different formula for each year, no problem.
please, can someone help me figure out the formula?
thank you.
