Sorting different values from different columns

For a study, I need to calculate the different returns of several IPOs and different application strategies. The companies are ranged in columns, in every column there is the different shares they applied for and the return that follows. However, I need to calculate the averages of every possible amount of shares applied for. Because of the different amount of shares every company offers, it can not be calculated directly, but using the IF function. I have tried this, but in my way it did not worked.

    See attachment:
    SHEET: Data IPOs
B73 - CJ172: number of shares applied for
B724 - CJ784: the returns for the shares applied for

    thanks in advance!!

Can you supply a sample or two manual calculations?

Re: Sorting different values from different columns

    Company a company b
offers shares in the following categories:
    0,5 5
    1 10
    1,5 20
    2 30
The returns for the investor is
    0,023 0,1234
    0,022 0,1233
    0,021 0,1232
    0,02 0,1228
And for my analysis I need the average returns for applying in 0,5 and 1 etc. But the problem is that the values are all ranked in each column. So a direct average formula would create a skewed view since that incorporates for the first row the return for investing in 0,5 shares but also 5 shares.
