    auto date in cell when tick or cross entered in another cell

    Hi all, I would like to be able to enter a tick or a cross (for right or wrong answer) in rows 2,4,6,8 and 10.
    Also when tick or cross entered date to auto fill in 3,5,7,9 and 11 and If I need to change a wrong answer to right answer date to auto fill with new date if different from original.

    Not sure if this is the right place to post this so sorry if is not the right place.

    Thanks in advance.

    For the tick box, you need to enable the Developer ribbon and insert a check box, then format it as you wish and attach it to the cell in question. Then you can use something like this to insert the date in another cell if it is checked:

    =IF(B2<>"",TODAY(),"")

    where B2 is the cell with the check box attached to it.

    Hi,

    You'll need a sheet event macro to do this. I suggest the double click event. i.e.

    This PC World video is where I learned how to do this:

    She makes it look easy and shows all steps involved.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi

    You need to double click the cell. Double clicking toggles either a tick or a cross and puts the current date in the cell underneath.
