Season Stats - Changing a points structure

Hello I am a very new user to excel, but I am trying to learn more! My apologies if this is not posted in the correct section.

I would like to analyze how changing points structure during a season of racing would affect the outcome of the series.

To do this I was thinking of putting all of the riders on the left and the races at the top. In each race I would like to have different scenarios that I could toggle on or off to see the difference it makes with the total points.

Also I would like to know if there is a way to sort the riders on the left so that it puts them in order by their points for the season.

Hope this make some sense. Would anyone have any tips on how to accomplish this?

For the first part could you explain a little about the different scenarios / scoring systems?

For the second part you can sort the table Z-A on the Total column and that should put them into order.
Or you could use a RANK formula in a helper column and lookup into another table from there. This would make the second table live so it would adjust as you amend scores.

Thanks, I really like the idea of a separate live table that would adjust as the scores are amended. I will have to look up what "RANK formula" is and also the "LARGE()"

As for the scores. I am trying examine the difference between a few bonus points scenarios for different objectives in a race day. For instance, maybe giving 3 bonus points for pole position, or 5 bonus points for winning a heat race, or 5,3,1 bonus points for the top 3 heat race finishers. Obviously the bonus point categories would have to be the same in each round, but I would like to be able to turn these bonus points scenarios on or off and see how they would affect the total of the series. Hope this helps explain it a bit more.

Oh and there is an established point structure for the Main event race. So those points will also be added into the total.
