Hi Sifu,

i want to count a column based on 2 criterias
thank you ..
a fool learn from experiences, wise from others
maybe this?
Formula:
=SUM(COUNTIFS($E$5:$E$14,$I$8,$F$5:$F$14,"=OK"),COUNTIFS($E$5:$E$14,$I$9,$F$5:$F$14,"=OK"))![]()
In cell J8 put this formula:
=COUNTIFS($E$5:$E$14,I8,$F$5:$F$14,J7)
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

Based on the cell locations in your workbook:
=COUNTIFS($E$5:$E$14,$I$8,$F$5:$F$14,$J$7)
Lol, marvin got it first!
I get beat a lot more than you think. I do have a problem with Sandy's answer that gives an 8 instead of 6 like we have.
My fault, I got I8 AND I9 not only I8
but enough extract =COUNTIFS($E$5:$E$14,$I$8,$F$5:$F$14,"=OK") and it will work also![]()

Hi Did13n,
You don't really need any formulas for solving this problem if you use a Pivot Table. You simply drag and drop a few words and the pivot shows counts for all possible combos. See the attached.
Hi Marvin
actually i had done the calculation using Pivot table , but i believe if i can learn the formulas, may give me a benefit in the future
however thanks for your advise ... *beer*
