Unhappy Calculating an average based on set criteria

Hi all

I've just registered here tonight in sheer desperation!! In the table below I'm trying to find an average of the numbers in column D (Autumn 1 %) only if the box in column C (Pupil Premium) for a person is completed as 'Yes.' I.e. the average for Pupil Premium.

I hope this makes sense? It seems like a simple formula but I can't for the life of me work out how to do it.

If anyone can help me out I'd be massively grateful.

Re: Calculating an average based on set criteria

Hi welcome to the forum

Please upload a sample of your workbook, not a picture of your data. Pictures are pretty much impossible to edit, and no-one wants to re-type your data for you
Also, not all members can upload picture files (Company firewalls and stuff) - and, depending on what browser is being used, some pics dont even show up on the forum

Your workbook should show a small desensitized example of the data you are working with and a manual mockup of the expected results.

Having said that, take a look at using =AVERAGEIF()
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Regards

Hi FDibbins

Thanks so much for your advice, I'm a complete newbie so that really helps. Apologies for the multiple posts, the Internet kept timing out at my end, sorry.

I'll look into the advice I've been given. Thanks again.

AlKey - you're a star, that worked perfectly.

It's a formula I've been looking for that I need to use on variety of spreadsheets in my role as Deputy Headteacher at a Primary school in Yorkshire, England.

I'm so grateful.
