You mentioned an attachment, but I don't see it.
I think it would be more accurate if you know the earliest year in your database.
Here is a formula that should do the conversion. It breaks at half of the century but it can be adjusted to the earlier date.

Select the range having dates. Format cells.
Format cells --> Date -->Select the required format showing four digits for year.
