I am having trouble with the formula at E18 in the attached spreadsheet. It is supposed to count the number of occurences of the "|" character in each cell and multiply that by the point value in the corresponding d cell. To create a total points score for the report.

Where am I going wrong? Also I am sure there must be a less longwinded formula that will achieve this, I hope so anyway.
