Euro Symbol € not appearing in Excel only!

Hi All,

I have been desperately searching the internet and still found nothing.

The problem is a user within my company can not produce the € symbol but pressing Ctrl Alt 4 or Alt Gr 4.
I can manually insert the symbol with the symbol option or by holding down Alt 0128.
I have uninstalled/re-installed office 2010
it has Service Pack2
restarted the machine
repaired office.

but still nothing, any ideas?

I have also tried using a new keyboard and resetting the keyboard languages.

Options
Language

Make sure English (Ireland) is set as your default language.

Thanks, I've already tried this and it works my the user wants to know why and frankly so do I why is it the Ctrl Alt 4 does not work or Alt Gr 4 and yes the Alt 0128 does work but its only a work around.

Here is an alternate thought. It may be possible that the manufacturer of your user's computer uses those keystrokes for something else, and the manufacturer's settings must be bypassed by setting a computer BIOS option.

I could not use the function keys on my HP Laptop due to the same issue.

Hi the symbol used to work before and it also works in other applications like word or just generally browsing google its only specific to Excel when doing the Ctrl Alt 4 or Alt Gr 4 it just doesn't recognize it anymore.

FOUND IT! it was an add-in from Bloomberg which was restricting the Ctrl Alt function. Did this be disabling each add in one by one.
