Conditional formatting looking at two data sets

    Hello,

I have been having some trouble getting my conditional formatting to apply correctly. I have attached a dummy spreadsheet with similar data that I am looking at. Ideally I would like to have it where if the control lots numbers match each other and if the value is above the upper limit for that particular control number it highlights as a flag. The only progress I have had on this is highlighting for one particular lot number at a time.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Conditional formatting looking at two data sets

Thank you very much. This is extremely helpful. I also have another question since I'm not sure if it is something I am doing. When I put a formula into conditional formatting and hit ok, if I go to manage the rules I have set up some of the cell numbers have changed drastically and the formatting doesn't work at first. For example instead of B2 at the beginning it changes to B65522. I am able to edit the formula and get them to behave appropriately but I am doing something incorrectly?

    Hi
I usually select the range of cells I want to format.
Only after that I introduce the written formula as if I were to format the 1st cell.
I have in mind the domain I want to format (a formula must be valid for that domain)
