Cells will prefill using a cell trigger

Hello everyone,

I am an Excel dummy and need help. I am creating a file and I want that if someone types a Name in B2 then the values in columns I2- V2 will auto-populate. Please take note that the values in columns I2- V2 are a drop down list that contains YES, NO, NA, NI (evaluation form)

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

What values in I2:V2 do you want to autopopulate? That is, what value do you want to see in each of those cells once someone enters a name? It would help immensely if you could attach your file.

You may have to allow a blank as a valid value in your dropdown list to get this to work, to allow rows with nothing in column B to look blank.

I am willing to help but this is not really what I was hoping to see. I hope you aren't expecting people to work for free for you while you are out for coffee.

I am SOO sorry. I am so confused. Anyway,it should be prefilled with a "YES" but the encoder must be able to also toggle the data in case they need to put a NO, NI or NA.

I was by the vendo machine. I immediately replied to your comment thinking what I said would be enough to solve my problem. Anyway, thank you.

Try this. The cells are defaulted to a formula that will be blank when no name is entered, and YES when a name is entered. The user can then use the dropdown to select a value, which will permanently replace the formula.

Note that nothing prevents a user from using a dropdown to select a value even if the name is still blank.

WOW. I have been researching for 3 solid days and been working on this tracker since Monday or Tuesday this week. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I am crying now. I am trying to learn Excel and the "IF" function so this is HUGE.

Actually I learned something here myself. I did not realize you could put a formula into a cell with list data validation until I tried. Win-win. Thanks for the rep!
