Remove suffixes from Dates exported from scheduling software

    Hi,

I have dates exported from a scheduling software program and they have suffixes such as “A” for an actual date (already completed) and “*” for constrained activities.

    Examples: 01-May-15 A, 02-Oct-16*

Is there a function or formula I can use to convert these to normal dates (in the format 01-May-15)?

    Thanks very much

    Dave

If you are not always sure of the length of the date portion of the string this is another way.

    Then format dd-mmm-yy.

Select the cell with the formula

In the formula bar highlight this section:

    --LEFT(A1,ROW($1:$20))

    Press function key F9.
