Create a dynamic named range.
Name: Range (or whatever you want to name it)
Refers to: =$V$2:INDEX($V$2:$V$1000,MATCH(1E100,$V$2:$V$1000))
Adjust for a reasonable end of range where I use down to row 1000.
Then your formula would be:
=COUNTIF(Range,"")
If this was your data, using the dynamic range, this formula entered in X2:
=COUNTIF(Range,"")
