Hi guys,
I am trying to get the average total assets for companies with the same year and same SIC code in the AVGIFS-tab. Ultimately, the average of all the "rivals" in an acquisition announcement event should be calculated and added to the master file in which I summarized my data (I shrank this file to the first tab to make it easier).
Could you please help me out with this?

Dear bsuperiorsystem,
The formula I put in doesn't hold since I don't know how to construct it. I just need to have the average of the assets if (1) SIC is the same and (2) Year is the same, presented in the fourth column of tab 2.

Is this what is required ?
=AVERAGEIFS($C$2:$C$5681,$A$2:$A$5681,$A2,$B$2:$B$5681,$B2)
in D2 and copy down (with repeats for same Year/SIC)
