Group and ungroup columns using an if then clause

    Hi,

I wanted to see if it was possible to group and ungroup columns based on a specific value using an if then clause. If the group function cannot be used, hide should also be fine. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

And I wanted this to happen without using a macro.

Re: Group and ungroup columns using an if then clause

Since the Group function and "hiding/unhiding" columns or row is effectively the exact same question, then we can cover it with a single answer, no a formula cannot hide/unhide rows or columns. A formula can only display a calculated result in the cell where it is entered.

The VALUEs of those calculations can be used by other formulas, and can also be used by VBA programming tools developed to automatically do something physical to the sheet based on the values.

So no, a formula can't do it.

Yes, a vba program could be designed to do pretty much anything.
