I would like to know how to solve the following ( see attached worksheet)
My Goal - if D2 says "return" then A2 becomes a negative number and is shown in the cell.

You can't have a formula change a value in another cell then it resides. With a helper column you can do accomplish something similar.
A macro can change a value in any cell without formula but that seems a bit overkill here.
