    Thumbs up Help with Averages

    Hi All,

This is my first post so please bear with me I am not an Excel expert as yet but I am working on it.

So my problem is that I have a spreadsheet whereby I am working out a average daily loss on some Server HDD space so we can forward plan for storage purchasing etc. but the columns are only recorded on weekdays meaning that I am left with the figures below on a weekly basis:

    Monday 38
    Tuesday 11
    Wednesday 12
    Thursday 11
    Friday 12
    Saturday 0
    Sunday 0

When using the formula =AVERAGE(F1:F7) for example it gives me an average of 16.8 daily loss. This is correct based upon it being over 5 days and not 7. If it was 7 I would get 12 daily loss.

So my question is how can I get the formula to account for a 7 day average even though the weekend days are always recorded as a 0

Hopefully this makes sense and thanks in advance.

    Matt

    Palmerama, Good evening.

    Try to use:

    =AVERAGEIF(F1:F7,">0")

Is that what you're looking for?
    I hope it helps.

    Re: Help with Averages

Interesting that you say you want a 7 day average when you only have 5 days of data. That simply isn't possible unless you start to look in the previous week, i.e. Thurs and Friday to account for missing Saturday and Sunday. Are you looking for a rolling 7 day average that ignores data from weekends?
