Hyperlink Based on Contents of Cell

    Hello,

I am having a bit of trouble with the hyperlink function. Currently, I have a worksheet with columns A:G. In column B I have "Task IDs" and in column K I have a "Task Dependency" column.

I would like to create a hyperlink in column K that references the text of a cell in column B. For example, there is a cell in column B that contains "A-018" and I would like multiple cells in column K to reference it. The reason I do not want to just hyperlink to the specific cell containing "A-018" is that there will be a lot of sorting happening in the workbook and my testing has shown the hyperlinks do not update to reflect this sorting.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Pete, thanks for the response. that does not work for me for some reason. There is also an issue caused by the fact that it is a SharePoint file. Whenever I click on it using your method I get an error saying that the internet site I requested cannot be found.

Did you remember to include that # symbol? It basically means "in this workbook", so it shouldn't need to go looking for the file.

    What formula did you try?

    Hope this helps.

    Pete
