    Unhappy Referencing Moving Data

I'm designing a Workbook for two different departments at work. In this workbook are two worksheets for the two different departments. Lets call them Worksheet A and Worksheet B.

I normally fill in the information on Worksheet A, and then Worksheet B is pulling some of that information, or referencing several cells on Worksheet A.

But sometimes, I need to sort Worksheet A (be it, alphabetically, or numerically), and I'd like to be able to do that, without the information on Worksheet B sorting as well. It seems like every formula I try, Worksheet B gets messed up because it follows whatever sorting I did on worksheet A.

The problem with this is also that a lot of the references are customer names or things that are unique to customers. So, I can't anticipate what data will be filling those fields before hand and put them in a cell reference formula. Is there a way of referencing a cell on Worksheet A, no matter where it moves to? I've tried using Absolute references in every different way and none of that seems to fix the problem.

    Thanks!

    Without seeing your data:

Why not all data in 1 worksheet.

It makes it a lot easier to analyse the data (e.g. with a pivot table).
Notice my main language is not English.

    Re: Referencing Moving Data

The data is following two different pipeline processes for each department. There are certain milestones for each of our processes that intersect. (This is the data that is being referenced between the sheets). But overall the process and the dates they are tracking are different than the dates and milestones we track. If we put it all on one worksheet it will be one MASSIVE worksheet where we would all have to sort through a document where half of the information doesn't even pertain to us. I'm trying to keep the sheets as separate as possible.

In that case maybe do not link the sheets to eachaother.

You can copy => paste special => value to get the values in sheet 2.

    Re: Referencing Moving Data

That's basically how it's working now. Except they just have their own separate workbook. But it's a pain having it all separate. Without bouncing back and forth between two workbooks for the same clients, one hand never knows what the other is doing. That's why I was trying to create two separate worksheets in the same workbook where, when we fill out our dates, they automatically populate on their sheet. And when they do their work, they automatically populate onto our sheet. That way we can all see at a simple glance what has been done or what still needs to. So, is that not possible then?
