    Custome Number Fromatting HELP!

    Guys,

I have a column of about 263 7 digit numbers that I have to format this way. 0000#######3232000 with the current 7 numbers being the hash tags. Instead of adding the extra digets for each number, how can I format it so when I enter a seven diget number it will automatticly add the 4 zeros and the "3232000" at the end?

Thanks for your time on this,

    MG3

    Hi,

Slight amendment to bhenlee's format above - if you use "0000" at the start, you just need this format:
    "0000"#"3232000"
This will add four zeroes to the front of any number, regardless of length (9 → 000093232000, 987987987 → 00009879879873232000, etc).
Note that only the original number (the # part) will be treated by Excel as a value - the 0000 and 3232000 are treated as text and ignored.

JohnTopley's format will make any number an eleven-digit number with 3232000 at the end (9 → 000000000093232000, 987987987 → 00009879879873232000, etc). Everything up to the end of the original number will be treated by Excel as a value - but the 3232000 will still be treated as text and ignored.
