    Trace Dependent cell

    Cell H20 sends data to another sheet within my spreadsheet. I am not sure of the correct terminology. When I select 'Formula' and 'Trace Dependents' the arrow points to a '#' which indicates that it the data is sent to another sheet. I have tried everything I can think of and I can't find where it goes.

    What can I do to find the cell that is 'fed' by Cell H20?

    Not entirely sure what you mean. If another cell has a reference to H20 in its formula then with the cursor in H20 a 'Trace Dependents' WILL show a reference to the other cell. Are you sure it isn't just a narrow column and you're simply seeing the ### stuff.

    Otherwise upload the workbook so that we can see in context.

    CTRL-F enter H20 and search the entire workbook

    I widened both the row and the column and there is no reference to the cell, just the "#"

    Here is what I see:

    I have looked for every possibility that I can think of. It might go to a cell that has no formula, I don't know at this point.

    @Glenn - You probably need to use Ctrl+Shift+} or Ctrl+Shift+{

    Re: Trace Dependent cell

    Hi.

    When using the Trace Dependents/Precedents feature, if the dependent/precedent is on another sheet, then clicking on the dotted line will bring up a list of relevant dependent/precedent references in the Go To box, which you can then select.

    Re: Trace Dependent cell

    XPR LX: That did it! I found the cell that H20 'fed' in a place that had no logical connection to H20. The referenced cell was on a tax computation sheet, but in a cell that should have a dollar value.

    Also, I learned that if there is a problem like this, don't get bogged down on this problem, just check the whole spreadsheet while not looking for this one error.
