Duplicate a column of cells using a second column as the number of times to duplicate.

    Hello everyone,
I have tried using the search feature on here, along with searching on google and I cannot find exactly what I am looking for. That being said, I am probably not tying in my question correctly.

Anyways, I have a customer that orders vinyl decals from us and they provide a list in excel of everything they’re wanting. Column A lists the text that they want, and column B lists the quantity of that text. I am thinking I need to utilize the COUNTIF function but I cannot seem to get it to work. Is this something that can be done?

I have attached a screenshot below of what our customer will send us.

Please post sample worksheet rather than screen shot(s).

What exactly do you want to count by what criteria as Column A appear to be unique references?

Re: Duplicate a column of cells using a second column as the number of times to duplicate.

Basically I am wanting to create a duplicates of what is in column A referencing the number adjacent in column B as the number of times (or number of copies if that makes better sense.)

The reason for this is so I can copy everything and out of excel and paste it into our vector program with the duplicates already stepped out instead of me manually copying and pasting each one individually. This is a relatively short list, they can get quite long which is very time consuming to copy each one at a time.

    I appreciate the help.

I think you will need VBA to do this: if there is away using formula it is beyond my abilities - sorry

That is exactly what I am looking for! I imagine creating macros is not the easiest task without reading up on it. I have a very fundamental understanding of excel.
