    Help with a conditional vlookup

    Hello,

We have one file that provides us with a position ID

    Positon ID Location
    1 United states

Then we have another table for compensation that says United states with a pay type of Hourly has this grade

    Location Paytype Grade
    United States Hourly Plan 16
    United States Salary Plan 22

Essentially we have to do a vlookup to say reference sheet 1 and find position 1, return a value of United states.

Lookup United states on sheet 2, if it is hourly plan return grade 16, if it is Salary Plan return grade 22

    Hi,

In the absence of the workbook it's a little difficult to be specific but it sounds like a Pivot Table may be your answer. Or perhaps you may need an =INDEX(MATCH)) combination.

Upload a workbook for more specific help.
