    How to add cells together using specific criteria

    I am using Excel 2011 for Mac on a Macbook Pro.

    I would like some help to add some figures together that fall into specific criteria. What I would like some help please with is adding the data together so that it finishes up in the columns O to T, and that the data is taken from the columns on the left.

    The data cannot be selected through a range of cells as there is other columns between each roof element. The idea is, I need the costs added together according to how old the element is, as an example:

    1 Smith Street - Age 5 in U3 would have a total of £500 with data taken from P3 & S3, Age 10 in V3 would be blank, as there is nothing that old; age 15 would be £200 with data from J3 & M3; and so on. I have populated the data in Row 10 manually to show how I would like it to look.

    I have tried using IF, SUMIF, SUMIFS, CONCATENATE and can't seem to get my head around something that is so obviously simple, I hope!

    Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Try this in cell U3. Drag across and down.

    Simple way is
    U3=SUMIFS($D3:$S3,$D$2:$S$2,"Cost",$C3:$R3,U$2)

    Try the above formula in U3 and copy across
