Alternative to IF with multiple criteria.

Hey guys... So basically my problem is the following. I have a spreadsheet and I want to auto populate a column with categories based on the description.

For that I created a separated worksheet with the Criteria. But I had to use a long IF formula, and overtime I wanna add a line to these criteria I have to edit the whole formula. But im sure there is a way to do this easier.

So the Idea is that if on column B it says "GIRO" for example the category will be Vila Madalena.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Please upload the workbook and give us some more examples. You mention column B contains Giro but that's in the first table. It's not clear which table contains the data and which table needs the results. Please clarify.

Apart from what Richard said, a thought might be to create a reference table and use a VLOOKUP against it instead of a lot of if statements.
