Date in one column and corresponding day in next column

Hi, I m planning a 6 week trip and have typed up my itinerary. In the first column I have the date and in the second column I have the day as a number. However, if I delete a row then the day number does not automatically update. Can anyone help me with this. Many thanks in advance.

Assuming Column A has the date and you want to see th day in Column B.

    Use the formula =TEXT(A1,"DDD")

    Kindly try this.

If not working, please upload a sample file.

Most a sample wokbook and explain your requirement. How is the "day" related to the date?

Re: Date in one column and corresponding day in next column

If you have consecutive dates with any formula like

    =a1+1

Then change it to value by copy & paste special other wise it will give ref. error

Use weekday() in day number column

If you use Connective dates with formula like

    =a1+1

Change it to value by copy + paste special

Check your calculation method is automatic.
if it does not solve, upload a sample file.

    Thanks
