    IF Formula for Changing Colour of Cell

    Hello All and Happy Friday!!

    I've got the following formula in a cell and need it to include if H3="In Progress", "Blue","Green". SO in another words just need the cell to turn blue if it says in progress in H3.

    =IF(J3="","Green",IF(H3="Signed Off","Green",IF(J3<TODAY()+5,"Red",IF(J3<TODAY()+10,"Amber","Green"))))

    Many thanks

    Re: IF Formula for Changing Colour of Cell

    As far as my knowledge goes, conditional formatting will only format the cell with the "In Progress" in but I want the cell next to it to turn blue as thats the one that has the colours by status. Thanks

    Re: IF Formula for Changing Colour of Cell

    Probably a better way but why not make the cell beside it reference it and use conditional formatting to hide the value

    Here's how http://chandoo.org/wp/2009/06/05/hide-cell/

    Re: IF Formula for Changing Colour of Cell

    Sunshine, perhaps something like this...
    1. highlight the range you want to apply the conditional formatting to (H3?)
    2. on the home tab, styles, select CF
    3. select new rule, select use formula
    4. enter =$H3="In Progress" format fill as needed

    You can create new rules with different criteria for all the options you have
