Social Media Forecasts Using Excel

Hi,

I'm currently researching a company social media growth across various platforms such as facebook/twitter etc. I've got the known figures from 2009-15 but need to forecast to 2018. I've used the =forecast formula to calculate further growth which has given me a linear forecast so far. However, I'm looking to go a bit more in-depth with the figures. Is there anything on excel (formula's etc) that anyone can suggest I use to dig deeper? My difficulty comes in the fact that I've got known figures up to 2015 but then having to use the forecast figures to continue off. Hope that makes sense.

Excel has several functions and utilities for performing regressions and analyzing those regressions. I find that a lot of this analysis depends as much on how well I understand the statistics/math behind the regression/extrapolation/forecast as it does on my understanding of Excel/spreadsheets.
