Today's date formula creates a circular reference

I am attaching a spread sheet that only has one formula in it.

The =today() formula to get today's date.

Every spread sheet I use this in, it creates a circular reference.

Anyone know why?

I see no circ ref in that file? What makes you think there is a circ ref error?

Must be an issue with the Excel on this computer,

I still see the words Circular Reference on the bottom of the screen when I open it on this computer,

but I used my laptop, which has the same version of excel, and on that computer it doesn't show Circular reference. It's only on this computer.

No trouble at all. Do you have any other workbooks open on that machine?

If there is a circ reff in any sheet in any WB, it will show in them all. Start closing the WB's 1 by 1 if you have others open, and see when it goes away
