Count Number of Occurrences Based on Criteria

Hey everyone,

I have tried searching the forum, and I can't find exactly what I am looking for. I have attached a picture of my current project, part of my fire department schedule. What I need to do is have excel count how many times a certain guy works at a certain location.

In the summary section, I want to know how many times Mikel works D.O., Station 1, Station 2, Station 3, or Dispatch.

For example, in the "Station 1" section of the summary, under the name Mikel, I want it to count every time "Mikel" appears in all 3 weeks of the schedule, in the lines for Station 1. And so on for the other positions.

I have more than 3 weeks to do, but I can extrapolate out once I know how to make it work for multiple ranges.

I have used the COUNTIF function, the COUNTIFS function, the INDEX function....and I have had no luck. I am sure it is one of those, or something close, but I am not skilled enough to solve it the entire way.

Please let me know if I need to clarify.
