COUNTIFS having a range as criteria

Try using COUNTIFS like this

=SUMPRODUCT(COUNTIFS(A:A,D2:D5,B:B,E2:E5))

That should give 2 for your example

Note: that gives you the total for I7 without needing the I2:I6 calculations
