If I have "January" in cell B6 and "2015" in cell C6, can someone tell me the formula to get the result of 1/1/2015? Thanks.

Try this formula in D6
=(1&B6&C6)+0
format D6 with required date format e,g, m/d/yyyy
Audere est facere
Beautiful! Thank you.
How about this?
I only filled in the first three months, you have to fill in the rest of the month names in the formula yourself.
Edit: Too slow and too bad![]()

I'm hijacking this thread now because of mr longlegs ultraslick solution.
Daddylonglegs, is there a list somewhere of what Excel will autoformat as date? It seems like almost anything goes.
It can differ by region
If I type "1jan" into a cell I get the 1st Jan of the current year, of course if I add a specific year I will get that year, but if I type Jan1 it interprets that (with my UK settings) as Jan 2001 (and with unspecified day it defaults to 1)
...but in US "1jan" and "jan1" will both give you 1st Jan of the current year
In general any text that looks like an acceptable date format for that region will co-erce to a date, so with US settings if I type January 30, 2015 that immediately converts to a date, but if I type that in the UK it remains as text
Confirmed DDL, that is exactly what it returned - in both cases 1 Jan 2015...but in US "1jan" and "jan1" will both give you 1st Jan of the current year
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you
