Can Conditional Formatting be combined with Vlookup?

    Hi folks,

    Pplease see attached table.

I have a working list of numbers that will be added to and I would like to it to look at the masterlist on the next tab and return the cell color associated.

I've managed to do this successfully with VLOOKUP (to return a 1, 2, or 3 based on the risk color) and Conditional Formatting to color the new cell according to it being 1, 2 or 3. The problem is that the cells retain the 1, 2, or 3.

Is there a cleaner way to do this so that column B of the working list just returns the corresponding cell color of the master list?

Probably using VBA but not with formulas. One solution, use your conditional formatting to modify the font color as well as the background color so that everything blends and you cannot see the numbers.
