Sum the figures of a table to different cells based on its criteria..

Hi,

Please help me to create a formula to generate the following result.

Sum the total cell depends on the date it was entered.
Please see the attachment for further understanding.

In Cell F6

=SUMIF(Sheet1!$B$5:$B$16,C6,Sheet1!$E$5:$E$16)

Copy down

what if i want to take the data from another excel file, eg: a file in my google drive

what do you mean by "is the file open?"?

A file is either open and can be worked on directly or it is closed and needs to be opened either manually or with VBA to either extract data or add data.
