Excel 2003: Entering Text in a cell alters subtracts 1 from a numerical cell

    Hi all,

I'm new here, hope you can help. I'm fairly new to conditional formatting, and need some help for a spreadsheet i'm re-building from scratch for work. The spreadsheet contains clients who have a set number of services allowed to them per week. I have a column with the remaining number of services allowed for the week for each client, and a row for the 7 days of the week.

When I enter the name of the employee who will carry out the service for the client in one of the cells for the particular day they will carry out the service, I want that conditionally formatted so that entering this text will subtract "1" from the appropriate "services remaining" cell corresponding to that that client.

Hope that makes sense, please ask for further clarification if I haven't explained myself very well.

    Many Thanks

    Ok try this.

    There are three macros there.

The first two are sheet specific.

Right Click on the sheet name at the bottom of excel to see and edit them

The third macro lets you modify cell B2 to give the client more credit
You cannot select column B because of the second macro above.

In the attached file and included a formula that counts the number of cells that has a service tech name and subtracted it from the Max Allowed Service to return the number of calls still avaiable for the client.
