assistance please

I have run into a bit of an issue. I am trying to work food cost based from a $ amount.

I need to figure 13% of a dollar amount example $34,891.91, that mathematically comes out to 4,535.9483% however I know that isn't the actual food cost. Is there another function i can use to get a real time food cost besides the basic ="cell"*.13? nothing I am doing looks right, and i need this to work. I told my boss I would figure out what all his math geniuses at headquarters could not figure out. I design spreadsheets all the time, however this is my most difficult and detailed spreadsheet yet.

Many members search our previous posts, and thread titles play a big part of the search. I doubt anybody would do a search based on your title?

Having said my bit about changing your title, I read your question. 4535 is indeed 13% of the value in your example. Unless there are other factors you have not included, what answer were you expecting?
