Hi All,
I'm looking to find a way in which to better manager an action log that I own at work. The action log is the main hub for all actions captured between 4 separate meetings. Actions derive from papers produced for each meeting (there can be 7 or 8 papers per meeting per week).

The action log is growing and I'm finding it harder to control. I wondered if there was a way in which I could give each action a unique ID that enabled me to link it to the meeting/ paper it came from.

Currently this is what I have;

Date of meeting, meeting name, paper, action, Action owner, deadline etc
04/09/14, Working Group, Paper A, Action 1
04/09/14, Working Group, Paper A, Action 2
09/09/14, Operational Group, Paper A, Action 1 etc
10/09/14, Project Board, Paper A, Action 1

I need for the unique identifier to act as a tracker so that I can say, regardless of what meeting, the running total of actions is X. I also need to give the paper is came from a unique ID that ties in with the action so that I can keep a running total of the papers being produced and stop calling each paper A,B,C etc so no confusion is caused over what paper we are referring to.

I hope this makes sense and look forward to hearing from you,

Kind regards
Emily
