Post Changing dates in excel based project plan

    Hello everyone

I am a complete newbie so I apologise for basic phrasing. So, here's my problem which I hope you can help me solve quicker than having to do this manually (FYI - I have just a standard excel package, no extra fancy functions referred to in other posts).

Last year I created a project plan in excel for a specific project (yes, I know this is not the best software to do this in, but users of the project plan were not keen on anything 'proper')... I am now looking to replicate this project plan for a new project, same tasks deliverables etc, but I need to change the start and end dates and would rather not do that manually for each cell. Is there a way I can do this quickly in excel via a formula. I simply need to have dates for this new project 12 months later. My dates are entered in a simple date format, nothing fancy.

Many thanks for all your help!

Well that would very much depend on your data layout.
    Could you post your workbook?

    Hello,

Many thanks for looking at my post. I am attaching my workbook. On second glance I really need to move the dates on by 18 months rather than 12 months....

Re: Changing dates in excel based project plan

    Using your example:
Current start date is 04-29-13 (US date format April 29th 2013)
Current finish date is 05-03-13 (US date format May 3rd 2013)

And I'd wish both dates to be projected into future by 18 months so:
New start date to be 10-29-2014 (US date format October 29th 2014)
New finish date to be 11-03-2014 (US date format November 3rd 2014)
    and so on.....

Re: Changing dates in excel based project plan

Put the date "1st July 1902" in a cell somewhere and copy it. Then highlight all the cells you wish to increase by 18 months and use Paste Special / Add.

This will add 18 months to all the dates in one go and it's job done.

    BSB.

See the green cells in the attached file.

I changed the format of the days to (european)(dutch) format, so it is easier for me to read.

basicly i added 6 month to the month-formula and added 1 year to the year formula.

1 year and 6 months are 18 months.
