Question Too many SUMIFS = huge workbook. Help with what else to use? Index/Match?

    Hi there,

    Please can someone help me?

I have data stored in sheets where the cinema name populates column B, and the data is in columns from D onwards. Below this data, I have a SUMIF counting all the values that match ODEON (for example) then go to column D and sum the data for ODEON.

Problem is, the worksheet will grow (more columns with subsequent weeks worth of data) and I will have 22 worksheets for 22 different screenings. I started to multiply the one attached and the file quickly grew to 4.5MB, and I wasn't even halfway done.

I am not familiar with pivot tables, so tried index/match. My attempts are in cells D390 toD392 before I screamed in frustration. I'm sure it's possible on a formula basis without pivots, just not able to get it to work.

Could anyone offer me an assist please?

    All the best,

    Ian

    Hi

Not sure what you looking for?

If you looking to sum Column D2 to Column X386?

    Cineworld D390
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

    Curzon D391
    Formula: copy to clipboard

You see highlight Red 9 and 6? You will need to change it when copy down?

Sample Cineworld count 9 letter and Curzon count 6 letter

Next one Empire need put in 6, Odeon need put in 5 to get total sum!

Is this what you looking for?
