Conditional Formatting not working when applied to nested IF statement

    Hello everyone,

I'm working in MS Excel 2010. I have a spreadsheet with a number cells with conditional formatting applied, some with IF statements.

One cell has a nested IF statement, three functions. The formula works properly, but the conditional formatting won't apply. When I remove the nested IF statement and just manually put in the values, the conditional formatting works as desired. It's only when I have the nested IF statement that the conditional formatting does not work, but both work independently from each other.

The conditional formatting works on the cells with a single IF statement.

Any suggestions? It's not a critical issue on this project, but I'm just determined to make it work.

    Thank you for any help,

    Bill

What is the Nested If Formula?
And what is the conditional formatting condition?

Can you post a sample book?

Re: Conditional Formatting not working when applied to nested IF statement

Here is an edited version of the spreadsheet. Nothing sensitive to begin with, but not sure how the powers that be would feel about it going out anyway.

The cell with the issue is K8. The formula works as desired, and the conditional formatting work without the formula, and with the single If statements. They just don't seem to like each other.

    Thanks,

Change your formula in K8 to.....

Please Login or Register to view this content.
Your conditional formatting will work. This is because earlier formula was returning text since you were using "10", "7", "5" and "0" in the formula which are text not numbers.

    Does this help?
