Converting linked workbook data to text

    Hi-

I have linked two workbooks together but now need to be able to convert that linked data to straight text. I have a v-lookup in the report that needs this to be this way. I do not want to use paste special values because that would defeat the purpose of linking the two pages. Thanks for your help.

Can you provide some additional info regarding the vlookup, the type of "linked data" you referred to, as well as some more info about "the report"? Is your vlookup in one workbook while the data you're looking up is in a separate workbook? Posting samples of the files (or even screen shots) would be helpful.
