Help! How to use variables to define data ranges

    Hi everyone

I was hoping to please get some help with what should be quite a simple problem:

I would like to sum up values in a column, though only specific ranges (in my case it's A2:A3001, A3002:A6001, A6002:A9001...etc.). To do this I've made a separate row with starting values for each (2,3002,6002 etc.) and one with the end values (3001,6001 etc.). To calculate the values for these specific ranges I've tried to use these values as variables in the Average command:

    =AVERAGE(F(M2):F(N2))

Where (for example) M2 has the value 2 and N2 has the value 3001. Excel doesn't let me do this, is there a different way to replace the numbers in the average function with a cell value?

I'd be super grateful for any help with this. I've searched extensively online for a tutorial for this but, as you can imagine, finding the right search terms is tricky in this case!

    Thank you!

    Isabel
