    Sum values using multiple criteria

    Good morning all,

I am trying to summarise the values from a table (not created by me - apologies for how bad it looks) so that i can find the monthly totals for each person for each type of activity. (as per attched)

So essentially what i need to do is write a formula that finds all values that matches the name, and the time period. This should be quite easy and I am sure I have done something like this before but my excel skills have gone out the window since i stopped using it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
Not clear about what you need, you have data by date, but the result is by month, is that what you after?

    Try this:
    Example (1).xlsx

I have added a helper column so you can look up dates and changed the months on your summary to dates, then used a SUMIFS function.

    Hi Azumi,

As the user has used RANDBETWEEN function in the data range in his sample workbook, could not validate your array formulas.

When I apply filter to a the data range to view the rows for a particular user, the total of Values, 2nd Column and Something Else in columns J to L gives different values every time after I remove the filter.

Just need to paste the formulas as values in the data range to check your formula.
