Find mode by using subtotal feature?

I've seen several questions about this posted on the internet, but very few attempts an answer - that I could find.

Is there a way to find the mode by using the subtotal button.

Basically I need it to subtotal at changes in a column, but find the mode instead of one of the listed options. With how versatile everything else in excel is, I cant believe that there's not a way to do this?

Re: Find mode by using subtotal feature?

So, I believe that I've found the answer to at least part of my problem, if this helps anyone in the future. Simply doing a "Find and Replace All" after subtotaling in the column that you want the mode for - replacing every instance of the word "SUBTOTAL" with "MODE" will allow you to keep the same ranges and find the mode.

Unfortunately, this doesn't solve my problem because several of my subtotals don't have modes and will thus return an error.

If anyone can think of a way to utilize this "find and replace" process so that I can work out a way to selectively find the mode, please chime in. I'm thinking maybe a find and replace with an IF statement.
