I have recently had some help on here with this spreadsheet, but I want to take it a step further and try and automate it as much as possible.
Background - my work colleagues and I are having a bet at work by trying to predict as many of the world cup outcomes as possible. For all group stage matches, you are awarded points depending on whether you get a result completely correct, or get the correct outcome but wrong score line etc etc. This works because we know who is playing who beforehand.
But what is the best way of automatically score the "last 16" to "the final"??

Master sheet = the scores on this sheet will be updated during the world cup competition. These are the official results
Ben and Steve's sheets = these are the individual players predicted results
We were going to give the players points manually....but we want to do it automatically. I was thinking the easiest way would be to compare the players predicted group table to the actual table (on the master sheet)...if the top two teams matched in the correct order then they would get 20pts, if they predict the right top two teams but the wrong way round then 10pts, if only one team is correctly predicted to go through then 5pts. There's space in coloumn BR and BS on the players tabs to work out the points calculation.
But then I'm not sure how we'd score the rounds after that!! Arghhhhhh!!
